Weekly! UQ Holder 23 & 24

Battle! Touta and Kaito fight in this instant movement showdown! Touta is slower in instant movement but makes up for it with his battle senses. Kaito is a veteran fighter and faster. Ultimately ending in a draw, Kaito goes to super sonic speeds to beat Touta. However, some dark aura is emanating from Touta's body. What could it be?

Weekly Shonen Magazine Issues 12 & 13 2014

Previously on: UQ Holder 22: Badass Touta kicking Kaito-san's (Mr. Werewolf) butt! A romance developing? Kuroumaru carried like a princess while regenerating his lower body (d*ck not included. Yet.) Ms. Karin comes just in time for a team match up! An instant movement showdown is about to begin!

Spoiler Alert! If you are gonna read this post, please read the actual manga first!
Summary: Ch. 23: Touta and Kaito exchange blows and both are equal in strength however, Kaito is much faster because of experience. When Kaito was about to land a counter attack, he was intercepted by Touta which was unexpected. Both were fighting in a fast pace that even Kuroumaru was shocked.

DBZ fast.

Kuroumaru left to save the city however, he could not do it by himself therefore he used a "party trick" technique to call out the UQ Holder reinforcements. This also became a sign that the immortal hunters must leave.

Kuroumaru's secret technique!

Kaito reaches out to Touta by offering him to join their group of immortal hunters. Touta strongly declines and Kaito states that he needs to end it. He changes his stance to an attack stance while Touta goes on the defense. Kaito breaks the speed of sound with his instant movement, aimed at Touta's heart. He holds Touta's heart in his hands, squishes it and plans to seal him with his ultimate sealing technique. Immortal Hunter Shion Nagumo (the blind swordsman), tries to stop Kaito but it was too late. A dark aura consumes Touta's body...

Heart grab.

Ch. 24: Angry, Touta grew wings made of dark energy. Somehow Kaito got his forearm cut off, while Touta's dark aura is regenerating his heart. Shion Nagumo claims that the dark aura is unmistakably, "Magia Erebia." According to history, only two have been able to have Magia Erebia including a female mage and that female mage's disciple. The female mage's Magia Erebia was incomplete however, her disciple had completed his form and was called "The Greatest Mage." Apparently Nagumo-san has met both of them 20 years ago.
Nothing smart to see here.

He was in pursuit of the most evil of immortals when his group was defeated by a wave of giant demons. Just when a demon was about to attack Nagumo-san, someone with the Magia Erebia aura kills the demon. To describe this creature, it had long hair, feet that look like bird's and a long tail, with wings made of aura. This creature could cast a thousand spells and could destroy everything. He was considered the most evil of all the immortals, however, he just save Nagumo's life. This creature then responded to Evangeline A.K. McDowell's words by saying "Yes, Master." Shamed, Nagumo states that they even had to borrow the powers of immortals to defeat an immortal.
Beauty is in the eye of UQ Holder.

His reason for killing immortal is that they cannot exist among mortals. Among immortals, Magia Erebia is the worst immortal power that anyone can have. Ms. Karin stops Nagumo's attempt to "Kill it before it lays eggs" act. She tells Nagumo that if things do not go well, UQ Holder will take care of Touta Konoe.

Shinji Approves!

We end with a weakened Kaito who has a crushed leg and battered body, pleading for death as it is a warriors dream to die in battle. Will Touta grant his wish or will he come to his senses and spare Kaito...

My attempt at cleaning failed, face first.

Likes: Negi Springfield doing a Cameo! Awesome! I really didn't want to see him in that state until I've finished reading his series (Negima!) but in order to learn more about Touta Konoe, they just had to show him in his immortal state. Kinda spoiled it for me but seeing him and Evangeline in one page is just awesome!

Dislikes: Shion Nagumo doing nothing but exchange words with Ms. Karin. I mean, I get it that he  needs to explain it to the readers who are new to the Negima Universe but still, at least trade some blows and not just explain the whole thing. I also want to see Nagumo's power.

Kakarot vs. That other Vegeta.

Quirks: The latest chapter, 24, just screams DBZ. I don't really like comparing anything with Dragon Ball as it is it's own thing but just the power ups and destruction in this chapter just make me feel some kind of nostalgia. As you can see with the images...

Predictions: I'm thinking Touta is going to spare Kaito, then pass out. Touta's not used to Magia Erebia yet so I'm not sure how he'll take it. Hopefully we get to see more of Evangeline since we see her here again. She's just a nice character with her being a loli witch. She's a completely different person in this series than way back in Negima. Maybe because I haven't read all of Negima that I can't connect Evangeline's personality nowadays. Back in Negima vol. 3 (I think), she was a villain who has vampiric powers and all. Then she became just a loli witch. Complicated.

Intense DBZ screaming.

Anyway, this is my first double chapter review and the reason behind it is that I have a lot of weekly manga coming up and I really don't want to drop them from my Weekly! list. Also, there are a ton of series that I want to review but don't have a lot of time to do. These reviews take me a half a day to do (depending on the dialogue, the length of the chapter and the action). I also do my own speech bubbles (most of the times but there are times where I just go with it because I don't have anything smart to joke about) so that takes more time. Well, hope you like this format because I will do one with Naruto as the next chapter comes out.
