Bi-Monthly! Omaera Zenin Mendokusai 1: Tomodachi Jiyanakute, Sensei Desu

What will you do when one of your students doesn't have any friends? She suggests that you; her teacher, become her temporary friend only until she makes another friend. Will you agree? Ahhh, complicated relationships! Here's a new series offered to us by Tobi (pen name of the mangaka) and is serialized in Comic Meteor.

Omaera Zenin Mendokusai! translated means, Everyone is a Pain (that's the really idiotic translation, but for me it should mean like that and not "You guys are all troublesome" because that sounds wrong).

The chapter title is: Tomodachi Janakute, Sensei Desu (友達 じゃなくて, 先生 です) translates to, "I'm not your friend! I'm your teacher!" I just want to show off my Japanese. Thanks Textfugu!

Spoiler Alert! If you are gonna read this post, please read the actual manga first!

Warning! This title contains adult themes.
Summary: We see a laid back girl, playing with her portable game console, drinking what looks like tea in a carton. She confronts his teacher asking what he wants like she's the teacher. He angrily asks what she's doing in his desk, playing the game console he confiscated. She honestly answers by saying that she wanted to play her game for a bit but got too lazy. After exchanging a few words, they come to the subject of having friends. She claims that she has no friends at all. With this in mind, she suggests that they become friends until she finds one.

I don't know if the mangaka just wants her to look sensual or what...

From that point on, she followed him everywhere she went. She uses sympathy to get to wherever he goes. The teacher asks her about what she's going to order, she gives a brand of energy drink as an answer. He worries about her health and we get to see her blush.

That magical blush...

School ends, she went to get her game console back but she waited for him to get off of work, so they can go home together like real friends. They start this cycle everyday until one day, another teacher warns Kunitachi-sensei (thanks for revealing their name in the middle of the chapter) about his closeness to Kazumiya (the girl) and advises him to not see Kazumiya that often as it might start bad rumors. In exchange for giving themselves some space, he suggests that she find herself a candidate for a friend. She abruptly walks away from the scene and says that she doesn't know anyone of that sort.

Temporarily Alone

Fast forward a week or so, Kazumiya comes knocking back and tells him that she has found someone she would like to be friends with. As per their agreement, he plans for them to have a meeting of sorts. She chose a Kurihara Riko as her candidate and so, they schedule a meeting at the library.

Kurihara notices the two are close and speaks her mind. She further complicates things when she said that love doesn't know of age and suddenly confesses that she likes him. Kazumiya walks out of the meeting when Kunitachi-sensei followed suit.

How honest.

He wants Kazumiya to go back and apologize but she grows furious about taking the blame. She emphasizes that she was the only one that takes the fall for everything. She tears up and announces her feelings toward Kunitachi-sensei. She runs away, leaving the teacher speechless.

What a reveal!

Next day, we see him all groggy and tired when Kurihara greets him. Kazumiya sees Kurihara clinging to him, passing them by with no care. Kunitachi-sensei notices and greets her. Kazumiya replied back but with an expression holding two meanings.

Thank that guy for translating this.

Likes: The interesting teacher/student relationship. I love me some forbidden relationship! I like it because of the drama that drags on with it. For me, this is a unique take on that teacher/student romance because they don't start out having mutual feelings for each other. The teacher is just doing what seems right and doesn't show any extra kindness towards Kazumiya. Just the right amount of care, but Kazumiya takes this as a "he cares about me" move. Kazumiya likes Kunitachi-sensei from the start of story but it just escalated as time passed by.

This is where it began...

If Kunitachi were Onizuka (from GTO), he would've dated this girl just to let her know what "adults" do. But this isn't GTO is it? I can understand the guilt of having a student as a girlfriend and what will come of it. Love does not know bounds BUT society will interfere with love if it crosses a certain line.

Kazumiya's character is the type that really just wants companionship but can't find it anywhere except in Kunitachi-sensei. I feel that she is mislead by her feelings. Admiration for a teacher is a normal thing but romantic love is not. Seeing things in a girl's perspective, I get how they could mix up these feelings. It's just really complicated.

BTW, that labcoat just reminds me of Makise Kurisu-TINA!

Dislikes: Kurihara Riko and her stupidly honest mouth. How can she says those things? She even confessed to a teacher?! IN A PUBLIC PLACE! She's a much needed character though. She's the one who shakes Kunitachi-sensei's life.

She's definitely different on the inside...

Quirks: Kunitachi-sensei is just too soft on her. Favoritism?

Predictions: Kunitachi-sensei would probably leave Kazumiya for a while. She'll avoid him no matter what the cost while Kurihara will still be all clingy to her. Maybe she'll find another candidate as her friend. I don't really have any ideas as to what's gonna happen since this is still chapter 1 and we just got a taste of what each character is like.

This one can be viewed through Comic Meteor's website. It's not translated but if you want to read it raw (because there's only one person translating it) you can. Just google "Comic Meteor" and then look for Kazumiya's face on their selection. Let google translate the page for you and read it. I'll try to translate some pages just for myself to study. Tell me what you think about it! Any comments? Suggestions? Gripes? Complaints? Thanks for reading! Mata ashita!
