Weekly! UQ Holder 25

Touta suppresses the Magia Erebia, granting "Mercy" upon Kaito. In their final showdown, they arm wrestle. It's like that one filler episode in Naruto where the Raikage and the Hokage arm wrestle and the Raikage wins for is speed but it's turns around and the strong person wins this time. Who could that be? Also, there is a little teary moment in this chapter so don't be hating on it because of that.

Previously on: UQ Holder 24: Touta becomes totally consumed by Magia Erebia. Completely obliterating Kaito with sheer strength and battle intuition. Defeating and immobilized, Kaito is ready to die an honorable death in the hands of a worthy opponent.

Spoiler Alert! If you are gonna read this post, please read the actual manga first!
Summary: Ready to die, Kaito awaits Touta's finishing blow but is surprised to still be alive. He sees Touta struggling to control his hand from killing Kaito. He wants Touta to end his life right there where he had a good fight with him. Touta rejects his deathwish by replying "I was only trying to stop you by fighting you, and I'm not fighting to kill you." Touta, in a swift moment, has suppressed Magia Erebia and is now close to powerless.

Nothing smart to say...

Touta cannot regenerate and his arm is weak. Kaito proceeds to taunt him by saying that he has lost to Touta completely but Touta denies his win. He continues to tell Kaito that the one he fought with was not Touta.

To end this bout fair and square, Kaito suggests an arm wrestling match of instant movement. He places a metal drum upright and takes a stance. Ms. Karin and Nagumo come in to the scene and Karin reminds Nagumo about the choice they had to pick, killing or letting Touta go on.

Should be done in moderation!

Kaito fulfills his end of the promise way back when they were training and didn't know of each other. Kaito tells Touta the second secret to instant movement. To refresh, the first one is "Grasp the Earth, grasp the world" and the second secret is "You are the only one in the world." The secret is about having to leave everything behind and that there are no obstructions in one's path that can stop that person. With this telling of the secret, Kaito and Touta's match begin.

Best friends always share, whether in happiness or pain.

Kaito's superior Shindo technique has Touta beat but Touta's willpower and strength held up. This strength came from within Touta and not from his vampiric abilities or Magia Erebia. Their conversation got back into the "dying honorably in battle" subject, where Touta shed tears because of the deathwish Kaito had. A place where everything is trashed and in ruins, Touta says that no one should die in that place. With all of his strength, Touta beats Kaitol; sending him to the ground that became ground zero.

They should be full of callouses!

Likes: Touta going back to normal and forcing Magia Erebia to disappear. He was totally going Goku where I can just hear the screaming that a voice actor could pass out from. Suppressing the Magia Erebia should be hard but then Touta just did it like he was squatting out a big one. He's Negi's grandson after all so maybe that power was inherited and was inside of him from the start that's why he could control it.

The amount of redraw the poor guy had to make to make up for this gap.

Dislikes: Ms. Karin and Nagumo getting along together? What is this? Did they form a truce now? They did agree on something and the immortal hunters are now getting ready to leave but still. Can't we see some kind of action from the two while Touta and Kaito were fighting. Were they just in awe the whole time?

Also, the shonen manga treatment of Mercy. Every shounen manga has this effect when the climax of a fight has passed. Mercy is bestowed upon the loosing side and they have a heart to heart chat. It's just too predictable. I just want a shonen manga where it doesn't care about the "shonen" genre where they really kill that character with a bit of mercy but more of a Euthanasia feel.

Quirks: Touta's magical O-Face...

It's that time of the month!

Predictions: The building where they held the arm wrestling match on is gonna crumble. They'll both be alive but in a position where all they can do is sleep. The immortal hunters retreat and the city is saved.

I was right with Touta getting spared. As I said, the shonen manga "mercy effect" is always a must. It's like saying "At the end of the day, we're still humans. You might kill other people but there is a possibility that you would change, so I'm letting you go." That's kind of short wasn't it? Tell me what you liked about the chapter! What you disliked about it? Thoughts on anything? Mata ashita!
