Review: I Am Here Volume 1

I'm currently at the extras page of this volume. It's 300+ pages of good shoujo manga! This is story is kind of generic, like Cinderella without the step family and talking rats. Step into the sunlight my friends!

I Am Here Volume 1 is about Sumino Hikage, a socially invisible girl who wants to be noticed and be a part of the class circle. To sum her up; she's plain-looking, average grade, shy and everybody around her don't see this little flower because it's in the shade of big trees. She has her own blog where she shares events and happenings in her life. One day, she gets noticed by the most popular guy in school; Hinata, and her life starts to change as the story progresses.

For me, this is the typical shy-girl problem. The manga "Kimi ni Todoke (To reach you)" shares the similar plot here. An average girl meets a famous, good-looking, kind-hearted boy and they slowly build their relationship. That's the gist of it really.

You might die from moe.

It's a fun and light read. It's does not bog you down. To sum it up in one word, it would be "BUBBLY." I can't describe it any farther, you just have to read it. You feel for the main character and at times, you really just want to beat up her bullies.

People can really relate to the main character. She's not hollow enough to make everyone fit in in her shoes but she's not too complex that people can't grasp the character.

Bottomline:
Read it. First time manga readers can enjoy this easily without taking enough of your time to put it down. I didn't want to stop after picking it up to read it. It's not hard to read, it's enjoyable and you are satisfied a chapter at a time.
