Series Review: Nozoki Ana; Peephole (ノ・ゾ・キ・ア・ナ [No・Zo・Ki・A・Na])

Sometimes, the smallest spark can burst into a huge flame. This is exactly what this story is about; a small crack/hole in a wall that will drive two unlike people into sorrow, sadness, joy and lastly, love. Neighbors divided by paper walls, witness each other's true selves. It is an odd story indeed, a love born out of a Peephole.

Nozoki Ana Volume 1

I'm on an ecchi manga binge. Well, to be exact, it's a seinen romance manga. Tons of love-making scenes and heartbreaks. I just read this today, the entirety of it (2nd of July, 2014) and I have some sort of a lingering headache from reading on a tablet all day.

Honna Wakou is a female mangaka who drew this seinen manga. WHO WOULD'VE KNOWN? Wakou does sound a bit female so I saw this coming. Sort of. From what I've gathered, this is her first published work which is not so bad considering it ran for 13 volumes. It is nice to see that it's an adult love story that leans towards the female side of a relationship. Enough jibber-jabber, let's get to the review.

Series Review: Kono S o, Mi yo! Look at this S (このSを、見よ [Kono S o, miyo])

What if you had a curse/blessing (depending on how you see it) that make the opposite sex crave for you? To men, a tempting offer but to women, a curse. This story tells the situation of an adult male having a birthmark on his bum that has the power to make women crave for him in a sexual way. The catch? The women must still have their period or else, it won't work. How does it get "turned off"? The woman just needs to have sex with the guy to avoid further sexual frustrations and wet panties. Still with me? Good! Let's review this!

Kono S o, Mi yo! Volume 1

The mangaka; Kitazaki Taku, has been published with multiple titles since the late 80s. I don't know much about the guy but from what I can see (which is barely scratching the surface), he's drawn a lot of ecchi stuff. I don't have anything special to say since I haven't read anything from him except for this title. I will read the stories "prequel" because this story is unique. I'll get to it. Keiji gets attacked by Rita. According to Rita, both of them have become antennas because their brains have received a signal that only mimics use. To escape the loop, one of them has to die and continue to save humanity. At the end, one survives and drinks the moldy coffee. That person will continue to save humanity with their skill and knowledge about mimics. All you need, is kill.

Mother of god, I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about the ending. Last night (06-10-2014) I saw the ending and it was awful. My heart was breaking and my chest tightened. I don't know why but I really got emotional that night. It has officially ended. Let me tell you more about it. Here's are the titles: オールユーニードイズキル (Ōruyūnīdoizukiru) and スカイブルー (Sukaiburū).

Previously on: All you need is Kill 15: Rita go on to the battlefield and save Sergeant Bartolome and the other troops. After pushing the mimics back, Rita signals Keiji to go on and execute their plan to kill the server and backup mimics. Keiji feels something urgent is coming...

Weekly! All you need is Kill 12, 13, 14 & 15: Engage; Boy & Girl; Morning Coffee; Killing Machines

The unity of the two loopers, leaves Rita awestruck. She talks with Keiji and plans on their attack. Just when  he thinks he could escape the loop, he loops back. Keiji does everything over again but now they grow closer, not as comrades but more like lovers. The day begins, Keiji sees another side of Rita when she was preparing their morning coffee. The day starts off good until the mimics attack the military base. They suit up and go to the battlefield with the intent of ending Keiji's loop.

Previously on: All you need is Kill 11: After escaping her loop, Rita kept killing mimics all over the world. She sees Private Kiriya and he tells her to meet somewhere alone. Keiji then confirms Rita's future question of "Is tea served free?" She begins to tear up knowing that she is not the sole respawner.

Weekly! Fuuka 11: In a Loud Voice (大きな声で！[Ōkina koe de!])

Yuu, Fuuka and Mikasa arrive peaceful at Shōnan and were immediately put to work by the Southwind's manager. Yuu gets scolded by the manager for not speaking loud enough to say the order. Fuuka saves the day by saying that she wants to hear more of his voice. He grows a pair and yells with all his heart but that effort ended poorly.

Shukkan Shonen Magazine 20-2014

Previously on: Fuuka 10: Yuu reminisces about his childhood and his promise with Tama-chan. Fuuka decides that she wants to form a band with Yuu and Mikasa but learns that a large sum of money is needed to buy instruments. Their homeroom teacher suggests that they work for her friend in Shōnan which is incidentally, where Tama-chan is shooting her next music video!

Before Commander Erwin gets captured by the military police, he meets Hanji and they both talk about what the government is planning to do with Eren. Hange succeeds the rank of Commander of the Survey Corps while Levi confronts his former teacher, Kenny the Ripper.

Bessatsu Shonen Magazine 06-2014

Previously on: Attack on Titan 56: Eren writes what he heard during Ymir’s conversation with Bertholdt and Reiner. He gives it to Hanji and she hurries to Commander Erwin. Meanwhile, Historia was to be the new queen after being saved by Survey Corps from the clutches of the First Military Guard. Unfortunately, the plan fails and Mr. Reebs gets his throat slit.

Oooh, it’s Shingeki no Kyojin but instead of kyojin, we have Kemono which translates to beasts, believe it or not. Then after a few pages, there were beast hunters who hunt beasts to sell on the market because ivory and other materials can be taken from beasts. Imagine a Rhino horn the size of the whole Rhino itself. After it hooked me like a teenage boy looking at a porn mag only to find that the models were trannies, the series showed it’s true colors, it’s about a NEET trying to have a peaceful, couch-potato (but in this case, a bed-potato) life but still wants to earn money and grope all the tits in the world.

From what I can collect, this is Tobita Nikiichi's debut series. I'm worried that this series would end up being crappy due to the unclear plot. Let's just hope that it goes well because it looks promising.

MEGA Weekly! Fuuka 6-10: Wings; Promise!; Stage!; Unrequited Love; Band!

Fuuka Akitsuki is searching for something fun to do, a hobby or a club to join. She could not find anything, however, Haruna Yuu, suggested that she should take up music; either pick up an instrument or become a singer. She dreams, she acts upon that dream.

Fuuka invites Yuu to see a concert but Tama-chan (Koyuki) invites him first. With no choice, he goes with Fuuka and to his surprise, they went to see Tama-chan's concert. The three of them met eye-to-eye for the first time and it has now become a race to win Yuu's heart. The concert left Fuuka wanting the stage and so she decides to build a band. This leads to them to possibly meet personally as the four of them (Mikasa included) work at the beach in Shōnan.

Now-Reading 10: Sweet-Delinquent Girlfriend(ヤンデレ彼女[Yandere Kanojo])

This is what a shounen romance should feel like. A heart-warming story between a yankee; a delinquent, and an ordinary guy who fell in love after their first encounter with each other. It’s cheesy at times but it feels more shoujo than any shoujo I’ve read so far. It’s not filled with drama but is filled with happiness.

Yandere Kanojo Volume 1

When a gag manga gives you something bigger than gags and comedy, you know that you’re reading a jewel of a story. I will apologize for fangirling about this series because I’m falling in love head over heels with this series because it’s so light and lovely, it feels like I’ve found the one I want to be with. She doesn’t look outstanding, she might swear a bit here and there but overall she’s just a really nice girl. I met her when I was browsing a certain manga hosting site, looking for a gag manga and she looked like a fun manga to read. She describes herself modestly but she’s so amazing and unique, she should be licensed. As of now, I’m still enjoying her company but we’re going to go through a long distance relationship soon. I hate it but I have to endure.

The mangaka’s pen name is Shinobi which translates to ninja. Her works are mostly 4 koma gag manga and all share the same kind of art style. She is prolific in that she works on two versions of Yandere Kanojo; one for the magazine and one for online publication. Her other works are “Nekura Musume to Internet (Miss Depressing and the Internet)” and “Musuko no Yome (My Son’s Wife).”

Series Review: Renai Shimasen Ka: Shall we Love? (恋愛しませんか[Ren'ai shimasen ka])

An otaku who falls in love with a girl who works at a maid-cafe, a dream come true for many. Fuwa Rito is your casual otaku and Fuwari-san is your run-off-the-mill big busted maid and how is this relationship even possible? These two share a common past but that will not stop them from falling in love. This story is straight-forward and will not leave you asking questions. Any complaints before we move on? Good?

Hey! Ohisashiburi! When was the last time I wrote something? I've been busy with school and my video-making that I don't have much time. Anyway, I'll do my best to review this series before it gets rusty on my head.

This is the first manga by Tachibana Roku serialized in Young Ace. The mangaka's latest work is Inugami-san to Sarutobi-kun wa naka ga Warui and is about two elite students fighting out in various small competitions that will determine who will be succeed the Inugami Foundation.

Weekly! Wagatsuma-san wa Ore no Yome 77: How About This

A new arc! Ai Wagatsuma is interested in the newly hired math teacher?! How will Aoshima fix the present to have that ideal future?! Also, the start of this chapter is about a show host (which I assume is from late night) retiring after hosting the show for 30+ years. It's weird that they put that there but I guess that guy is a big influence for the both mangaka.

Shonen Magazine 19 2014

I decided to pick this series up since I like it and I think it's funny and I kind of learn more about the Japanese Visual Culture (TV) through it. Whatever. Just go ahead and skip it if you want.

Previously on: Wagatsuma-san wa Ore no Yome 76: The Kaji-sensei arc ends with her ending up with Fuji-Q. His hook is his cooking ability that won over Kaji-sensei's son (his son does not eat vegetables). His future is now secured with Kaji-sensei.

Rita escapes out of her loop and meets Keiji for the first time (in her timeline). The story finally comes full circle and Rita cries in; presumably, joy of knowing someone who shares the same fate as hers.

Finishing the Rita background arc, this is getting a bit slow but it's getting closer to the end. I can just feel it! I'm kind of sad to see this series go really. What am I talking about?! Previously on: All you need is Kill 9: Half a year has passed since Rita signed up for the UDF. She was a vengeful wreck but soon she found herself comforted by random ramblings of her commanding officer. Rita kills an odd looking mimic and finds herself 30 hours in the past, before she eliminated that odd mimic. She tests her hypothesis, she was in a loop. It turns out that the mimics are studying her movements and are keeping a high defense status. How can Rita escape this never ending loop?!

Now-Reading 9: Minamoto's Story (源君物語 [Minamoto-kun Monogatari])

Have you heard off "Hikari Genji" or "Genji monogatari?" If you've watched a lot of anime, you probably have heard of it. It's the story of a man searching some sort of attachment from females because he doesn't have that maternal attachment. He goes through 14 women to help him achieve that attachment. That's the extent of what I got from this series. Why am I telling you this? This series is basically the modern take on that story.

Every girl encountered by the main character.

If you felt like Seishun Pop! has a ton of sex scenes, this has chapters of it! Considering it's a weekly published series, 8 pages of sex scenes isn't enough! The scenes are showed in a way that leaves the reader to use his/her imagination to create the scene. It's not a hentai manga but it is smut.

The mangaka for this series is Inaba Minori. Believe it or not, like Seishun Pop's mangaka, she's a woman. I'm not discriminating for what they draw but I applaud them for being brave enough to show their work. The good thing about her is that this is her first work ever. She might have drawn doujinshi that no one on the Internet knows but it's good to know that she has room to grow. On to the story shall we?!

Telling more about Nagisa before we head on over to the review, she's the typical shoujo loving girl. She loves Sailor Moon and this series, Peach Girl. She has a modest sized collection of otaku-related stuff Nagisa hates yaoi intensely but surprisingly, she can stomach every dirty joke I throw at her! She's the girl friend that every otaku needs (do not fall for her, even if you are desperate).

Weekly! Naruto 670: The One who Started it all... (始まりのもの・・・!! [Hajimari no mono...!!])

Naruto wakes up, not in the real world, but in a dimension where he meets a strange old man. This old man has the Rinnegan and is sitting on black balls, floating and holding a staff. He reveals himself to be Otsutsuki Hagoromo, popularly known as "Rikudō Sennin" (The Sage of Six Paths). He gives a quick history lesson about his family and how it connects to Naruto.

The title is kind of iffy. According to my handy dandy Japanese-English Dictionary, it say that Hajimari means start/beginning and mono is person. I don't want to use a certain manga streaming site's translation so I use my knowledge to fit it better (I think I'm doing a good job). There!

Previously on: Naruto 669: Madara vs. Guy! Guy's Night Elephant attack is executed. Failing at first due to the pain inflicted by using such technique, Guy completely lands the 5 hits that complete Night Elephant. Of course, it wouldn't be completed without the support of Kakashi, Gaara, Rock Lee and the Fourth. Madara, with blood coming out of his mouth, still wants to fight and only got excited from the taijutsu Guy has showcased!

Monthly! Real Account 2: No Answer! (ノーアンサー Nōansā)

Have you ever been duped by a profile photo while browsing your SNS of choice? The first real game in this virtual world of Real Account has started! The game is called "No Answer!" It tests the player's confidence in their looks. A panel of judges are given the task to "judge" the players' looks. The player wears an apron with either an X, a triangle or an O; with X meaning Ugly, triangle meaning "average or okay" and O meaning Good-looking. The judges will input their answer and if the majority agrees with your answer, you move to the next round. However, if majority answers the contrast of yours, then you are killed. Who wants to play?

We get to know more of ███████'s life. Yes! Her real name isn't Rita! She was a country girl living in Pittsfield, Illinois, U.S.A. She lives with her parents in their farm. One night, three mimics attack the town and kills a third of the total population of her town. To avenge her family, she stole the identity card of someone she knew briefly to increase her age, to immediately join the UDF.

The battlefield, she wield an assault rifle capable of killing mimics easily. Her commanding officer saves her from peril and calms her down by spouting random things. A strange giant mimic descends from the sky and she was caught in the loop after shooting at it. She is now caught in the loop and mimics seem to study the weaponry humans have. She swears to live through and fulfill her vendetta.

*The title is kind of awkward. Yeah. I haven't found the right translation for this "遁甲" in Japanese but when I switch it to Chinese, it says "Fighters" so maybe it means something similar. Let's leave it at "Fighting" okay?

 Weekly Shounen Jump 17-2014

Previously on: Naruto 668: Guy-sensei releases the Eighth Gate: Gate of Death. Flashback to Guy's beginnings. His father, Might Dai is just like Guy today, outgoing and always in a good mood. He teaches Guy the "Eight Inner Gates" but suggests that he only use it when needed. Then back to reality, Guy-sensei closes the gap between him and Madara in an instant and attacks with his 夕象 (Night Elephant) attack.

Weekly! UQ Holder 26: Karin's Crisis (夏凜の危機 Karin no kiki)

The fight between Touta and Kaito has ended. However, the immortal hunter; Nagumo, has been ordered to do overtime. He fights Karin and almost gets defeated until he uses his secret weapon. He teleports Karin to the moon. Whoa. Did I read that right? The moon?! How can that be possible?! The moon?! THE MOON?! Do you know how far the moon is?! I don't know the answer. That's why I'm asking you.






BTW, UQ Holder Volume 1 is out and I can't wait to pick it up! I'll go and visit the nearest bookstore and flip through some pages and see how it looks like! Happy face!

Weekly Shounen Magazine 15-2014

Previously on: UQ Holder 25: Touta suppresses the Magia Erebia, granting "Mercy" upon Kaito. In their final showdown, they arm wrestle. Both of them weakened, they fight with their sheer willpower and with only pure strength and heart, Touta beats Kaito and wrecks the building they were standing on.
