Update: April 26, 2014

Did you really think I'm not active with my blog and other stuff? Here's a taste of what I've been up to.

This is just a part of my collection, it's just one of the four book shelves I have. Am I living up to the title of my blog? I am a manga collector so you should expect these kinds of videos. Anyway, check out my channel for more manga goodness: MangaBlog100.

Hope you like it! どうもありがとうございました! Dōmo arigatōgozaimashita!

Update: April 21, 2014

I have recently been active on a certain video sharing website and I am posting stuff there so if you would please follow me into the darkness, click this here link and it'll take you to my channel: MangaBlog100.

I'll also post a Manga-in-the-Mail video here just so you guys can have something to watch or just listen to if you like the sound of my voice for some weird reason.

Comment on my stuff. I would appreciate it if you said anything. It let's me know someone cares.

Also, I have an angry otaku related diary called: NEETDiary where I write a rant about shit in my daily life. That would be updated everyday because everyday is a bad day. Check that blog out and I'll see you when I have the free time to post reviews. Thanks for staying with me!

Updates: March 6, 2014

O hisashiburi! I've really been slacking off with my blog now and I haven't posted a real review for a while now. Sorry about that. Anyway, I have news that might shock you!

The Study of Modern Printed Visual Culture

I have created a class for Manga! It's called Manga Studies 100: The Study of Modern Printed Visual Culture. It's a virtual class that I have started. I basically plan on teaching the basics of manga, the history of manga and the manga industry (how manga is made, published, serialized and whatnot). The problem I have is how to organize this class I started. I just wanted to create a Google Community where people can head to and learn about manga even if it's just adds a tiny bit of knowledge. I'm hoping it's gonna be a short course that people can follow in their own time.

I've posted an album that contains images that have text in them and that's how I would like to do the reading. So if you're interested, here's the link! Manga Studies 100: The Study of Modern Printed Visual Culture.

Tell me what you think about this virtual class. Comments? Suggestions? Recommendations? Anything would help, really. Thanks for taking your time to read this!

Update: January 25, 2014

So I've decided to sell some of my duplicate volumes I have. Hopefully someone from my readers will win the auction.

The items are:

Pastel Manga Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 - Condition from Good to Very Good

What you are bidding on is the manga series Pastel by Toshihiko Kobayashi. There are 6 volumes included which are ~200+ pages each. All of them are first editions. These are used and are in between good and very good condition. You can expect some shelf wear and tiny dog ears but other than that, they are good in terms of reading condition.
If you're worried about the story, the first six volumes give you a decent ending. You can continue collecting from then on but to start the series, these first six are what you need.
ISBN:
Volume 1: 9780345486271
Volume 2: 9780345486288
Volume 3: 9780345486899
Volume 4: 9780345486905
Volume 5: 9780345493255
If you choose to Buy it Now, I'll throw in Volume 8 which is good condition. It has a bent cover but for reading purposes, it'll do the job.
Pastel Manga Volumes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 12 - Condition from Fair to Good

What you are bidding on is the manga series Pastel by Toshihiko Kobayashi. There are 7 volumes included which are ~200+ pages each. These are library copies I bought here and I meant for them to be reading copies instead of display copies. They have a stamp on top that says "Portage County District Library." For reading, these will do the job.
I removed the stickers from some of the books but they left some residue and I put baby powder on it so it wouldn't be sticky when I read it. Volume 10 and 12 still have their library stickers on them. I read them once and they are in acceptable condition.
Again, these are reading copies and not display copies.

Manga Lot: Love Hina Volume 1, Rosario+Vampire Volume 2, I"s Volumes 7 & 12 - Condition from Good to Very Good

What you are bidding on are Love Hina Volume 1 (by Ken Akamatsu), Rosario+Vampire Volume 2 ( by Akihisa Ikeda) and I"s Volumes 7 & 12 (by Masakazu Katsura).
There are 4 volumes included which are give or take 200 pages each. These are used and are in between good and very good condition. You can expect some shelf wear but other than that, they are good in terms of reading condition.
Rosario+Vampire Volume 2 has some sticker residue due to it being labeled wrong. I bought it online and it had that library marking but it isn't used at a library. Also, I'm going to put an extra volume I have of Chibi Vampire Volume 2 which is an ex-library copy hardcover. You can tell it's been used a lot of times and it has seen better days but I'm throwing it for free in this lot.

If you win both my Pastel lots, you'll ultimately have Volumes 1 through 10 plus Volume 12! Yeah! Awesome right?! It's a good series to start collecting with because it's doesn't limit your judgment on manga. Some people who are only hearing about manga might have the notion that manga is just about superheroes like comics but with this series, it's an ice breaker.

To whoever will win my auction, I hope that you'll love those volumes as much as I did.

Thanks and Good luck! Ganbare!

Update: Keeping up with the Schedule.

So I didn't post anything today because I ran out of scheduled material. What kept me lazy is the fact that school is starting and I'm acquiring more volumes to read. Most of the manga described in my Mail posts are still in my waiting list but fear not, I will read them as soon as I have the will to work.

Behold! Here are my updates!

Updates:

  1. Finished reading all of the first five volumes I have of High School Girls.
  2. Read up to volume 3 of Arisa
  3. Currently reading MPD-Psycho (which is so bloody, gory and downright sick that I need to review it after finishing the first volume. Also, watch out for the Mail post about this series!)
  4. Working up to review Limit Volumes 3, 4 & 5 (I haven't finished the series yet because I want to keep the interest alive by reviewing them first.)
  5. Currently watching Psycho-Pass and a 29 seasonal anime when they come out.
  6. Waiting for the volumes I ordered
    1. A josei that came out last year
    2. A collection of short stories
    3. Two duplicates of volumes I already have (Hint: I've already reviewed them)
    4. An Omnibus (Hint: It contains Japanese Folklore inside the plot.)
    5. An autobiographical manga about a blues musician.
  7. Received 15 volumes of a shoujo manga (Yes, I will do a Mail post just for you guys!)
  8. Received 5 volumes of various manga (I will also do a post on this and I will separate them.)
  9. Currently reading Switch (which is about Narcs and their various cases. Didn't really have anything to say about it so I didn't do a Mail post o)
  10. Lastly, Toradora.
Sumimasen.

So that's a lot of things in my mind right now. I just probably need some imitation Red Bull and just review a ton of manga I have. Yeah, I feel like I need a Red Bull a day (just that one small can) so I can focus on my reviews.

Anyway, so yeah. That's about it. I hope you still read this and be aware of the things that I'm doing. Thanks and see you tomorrow!

Weekly! & Monthly!

I have thought about this since the start of this blog. I would like to post my opinions on the weekly series I have been keeping up with: Naruto and UQ Holder. The monthly series I would like to post about are: Attack on Titan (both the main series and the side story: Before the Fall) and Mahou Shoujo of the End (if it will even be translated.)

Yes, that means content about your favorite manga. Run.

I'll post my opinions here and they might be just ramblings but I will give it my best so it won't be boring. Anyway, that's my minor update. I'll post the first "Monthly!" when Attack on Titan Ch. 53 comes out from a certain website.

I hope that I some of you will be interested enough to read my post! Thanks!

Update: December 31, 2013

Hi readers!

I'm posting this as an end of the year update. Some of you may know this, I have a lot of material to work with BUT I don't know which one to do next. So, if you are curious about a title that I own, I would gladly accept your request and review it. I will attach the full list of my collection and I hope some people will cooperate! Please comment below if you are interested! Thanks!

Update: December 19, 2013

I'm experimenting with the scheduling of my posts. I've decided to post reviews on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday every week. Every review day is gonna be a different volume of the same title for two weeks. Confused? I'll clarify.

Let's say today's Monday. I'm going to review Ninja Girls Volume 1 today and post it. The next Monday would be Ninja Girls Volume 2. The next Monday after that would be a different title, like a review of Air Gear Volume 1. The Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays would be the same. I'll only review two volumes of each title for two consecutive weeks, and then I'm changing the title. Some time after that, I'll go back to the past and review volumes 3 and 4 of that title.

Here! Have a Meruru break!

What about the other days? Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays are kind of meh. I don't know what to put in between but I might as well post some Manga in the Mail stuff or Now Reading posts to fill the gap. I might put two up because I feel like Mail and Now reading aren't as heavy as the reviews, in terms of content.

I also want to try something new, something I don't have and something I want: Wishlist. It's a post that tells people what I want to read and what I'm looking forward to reading. It's kind of like a Manga in the Mail post without having the physical books.

So expect the posts to be somehow longer, and fewer. I don't want to run out of material to post so I'm saving some. There you have it! Thanks for sticking with me!

This is my whole collection as of today 12/08/2013 and if you would like a specific volume to be reviewed then please ask. Thanks!
