Manga in the Mail: 24

Super cheap and in great condition. I found them and I'm surprised no one paid higher than what I was ready to pay. I got this super amazing deal for these volumes:


Blame! Volume 1, Blood: The Last Vampire 2002, Warriors of Tao Volume 1 & 2 and Fullmetal Alchemist Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

I was expecting the manga to be in a "Very Good" condition since most of the manga I buy are like that, except for this one. I was surprised to see them so clean and so taken care of that they are basically like new with only a little shelfwear. They haven't even been yellowed (yeah, manga does yellow over time but that depends on how you take care of them!)

Manga in the Mail: 23

Miwa Ueda, her work on Papillon (Hana to Chou = Flower and Butterfly) is just amazing. It was the first shoujo manga that I've ever fallen in love with. Now, I'm on the hunt for her work Peach Girl, both the original release by Tokyopop and the re-release by the same publisher (the only difference is that the first one was flipped [meaning that they were mirrored and read from left to right instead of right to left.])

Manga in the Mail: 22

This is a record breaking package. Yep. I thought 17 was the biggest, until this hulking package came this morning. 28 volumes of random manga. Yeah! I know! 28 volumes! Awesome isn't it? I'm so happy to see this package!


I'm hoping I can go beyond this number of volumes in one package. That would probably be far into the future. List of all volumes are inside, so come on down!

Manga in the Mail: 21

This is a 2013 release by Vertical. Have you guessed it? Okay, the mangaka's other work came out earlier than this one. Guessed it yet? No? Dammit! It's a color! That's it! No more guessing!


It's PINK! IT'S PINK! PINK! It's by Kyoko Okazaki who is a well known josei mangaka. I'm hoping it's funny with dark tones to enhance the "Oooh! It's controversial!" reading theme I'll have when I read this. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Manga in the Mail: 19

So here's 15 volumes of a shoujo series I ordered recently. I was inspired by the anime so I bought this lot for cheap and most of them are in very good condition. Awesome sauce! Here's the scary part: the cover art is full of bishounen! (bi [bee] comes from bijin meaning beautiful woman, so they combined it with shounen and we get beautiful boys!)

Manga in the Mail: 18

So I recently bought another gruesome manga and I'm itching to read it. From all the pictures I have of this title (a simple google image search,) I can say that this series is disgusting and I love that kind of stuff. I love horror and more than that, the making of horror. The psychology of it sounds awesome too and that really ties up with this series.

Manga in the Mail: 17

In this installment of Mail, we get more of the Full Metal Panic series! Why more? Well, it's another one of those series that I just want to complete. The series is only 9 volumes long and I'm interested in the story without the mecha (I assume that is the case because so far in volume 1, there isn't any mecha "stalking" Kaname Chidori.)

I don't really have an explanation for this series. With all the episodes (of the anime adaptation) I've seen so far, I can say it's a decent show. I don't want to finish the anime yet (I know it's been overdue) because I feel that the anime can spoil the whole story for me if I watch it. Besides, I like manga more because I can own it for cheap. Come, come, let us discuss more of this!

I like drama. Well, the kind of drama that makes you pity a character for his/her situation. Combine my liking for drama with my fascination with psychology, specifically, the autism spectrum disorder. I am sincerely curious about the things that go into an autistic child's mind.

Since I love Suenobu-sensei's Limit, I bought her other work: Life. I've only read the first few pages online and with a box cutter and a bloody arm greeting me, I was sold! Suenobu-sensei sure knows how to make a dark shoujo manga! I'm excited to read it!

Manga in the Mail: 13

Fan service, we guys love it. It's pleasing to see once in a while, however, if it's the backbone of any story, then it loses it's value. I'm happy to see fan service when they put it at the right place. This mangaka though, he seems to rely on his fan servicing skills to give him content.

Previously in... MANGA IN THE MAIL. Arisa said, "What a Wonderful World!" I hope you catch that because those two are both manga titles! Yes! Arisa by Natsumi Ando and What a Wonderful World! by Asano Inio. The later will be today's subject!

What a Wonderful World Volume 1 & 2

What is this title all about? Well, this is a Viz Signature title and the mangaka is really famous for his work Solanin and this title. I saw this, I remembered a user of a video sharing site recommending the mangaka's works so I went for it and what have I got to lose? I'm still craving for more slice-of-life titles so I picked this one up.

Arisa said, "What a Wonderful World!" because she's part of MANGA IN THE MAIL! OOHHH SNAP! ERMEHGERD!

The first five volumes of Arisa by Natsumi Ando (other works: Zodiac P.I., Wild @ Heart and Kitchen Princess)

Arisa Volume 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5: I don't know much about the story, it was an impulse buy, kind of. As I said in my "Haul" post that I like Natsumi Ando's Zodiac P.I. That was an old shoujo manga but she did pull off a series. I could not judge her work based on what I remembered because I was not in the mood for shoujo anymore at that time so I might have given it a poor grading. That said, I did get through the 4 volume title, though it was slow. My first impression as of reading the synopsis on a manga website, I find that the two titles (Zodiac P.I. and Arisa) have the same mystery element playing. I'm not into mystery really, except for those that kill off people in gory and graphic ways.

The story is about two sisters (identical twins) separated at birth. They promised to write each other after their parents' divorce. Now Arisa attempted suicide because of some secret that Tsubasa doesn't know about. Arisa is in a coma and Tsubasa is bent on finding out why her sister had attempted to commit suicide.

That's the gist I got through reading the synopsis. I have two new Natsumi Ando works, I hope I don't have a hard time reading them. Anyway, the reviews are probably not gonna be shown until late January because I'm not sure when I'll have the time to read them. Anyways, cheers and have a good day!

Manga in the Mail: 9

Battle Royale, a theme that is gory and is down-right awful. When I think about survival, I think about Bear Grylls. *Crickets chirping* Just kidding.

Let's do that again. When I think about survival, I think about the human instinct. The basic command of finding food, water and shelter. If a situation deals you with more people, it becomes a disaster. You can live by yourself and survive by yourself if you are extra careful. Adding people into the survival mix is gonna get you killed sooner or later. Why? Conflicts, self-preservation, lies and other stuff that people can do for their own survival. That's what made me buy this series. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you: Limit.

I'm experimenting with the scheduling of my posts. I've decided to post reviews on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday every week. Every review day is gonna be a different volume of the same title for two weeks. Confused? I'll clarify.

Let's say today's Monday. I'm going to review Ninja Girls Volume 1 today and post it. The next Monday would be Ninja Girls Volume 2. The next Monday after that would be a different title, like a review of Air Gear Volume 1. The Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays would be the same. I'll only review two volumes of each title for two consecutive weeks, and then I'm changing the title. Some time after that, I'll go back to the past and review volumes 3 and 4 of that title.

What about the other days? Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays are kind of meh. I don't know what to put in between but I might as well post some Manga in the Mail stuff or Now Reading posts to fill the gap. I might put two up because I feel like Mail and Now reading aren't as heavy as the reviews, in terms of content.

I also want to try something new, something I don't have and something I want: Wishlist. It's a post that tells people what I want to read and what I'm looking forward to reading. It's kind of like a Manga in the Mail post without having the physical books.

So expect the posts to be somehow longer, and fewer. I don't want to run out of material to post so I'm saving some. There you have it! Thanks for sticking with me!
