Guest Review: Nagisa-chan on Peach Girl

I forced one of my online friend +Nagisa chan to do this review and she's cool enough to be a special guest here! Please read her review and welcome her wholeheartedly, thanks!

Telling more about Nagisa before we head on over to the review, she's the typical shoujo loving girl. She loves Sailor Moon and this series, Peach Girl. She has a modest sized collection of otaku-related stuff Nagisa hates yaoi intensely but surprisingly, she can stomach every dirty joke I throw at her! She's the girl friend that every otaku needs (do not fall for her, even if you are desperate).

Anyways, enough rambling, here I present you with Nagisa's review of Peach Girl!

So true.

Oh yeah, the chapter title Itami (痛み) means Pain (well, it's actually body ache).

Spoiler Alert! If you are gonna read this post, please read the actual manga first!

Monthly! Attack on Titan: Before the Fall 4

This chapter doesn't tell much but it was a decent one. Kyokurou gets released from his captivity by believers. He rescues Charle and they walk away to freedom. That's basically it.

Not sure if this is the correct issue for this month's chapter.

Previously on: Attack on Titan: Before the Fall: A group of wall worshippers led by a pregnant leader were eaten by a 15 meter class titan. When the titan vanished, it left the undigested corpses of the wall worshippers. The pregnant leader; now dead, gave birth to Kyokurou; the Titan child. Sold for auction, the Mr. Innocencio bought him as a present for his son as a punching bag to get ready to be a soldier. Charle, confronted Kyokurou in an attempt to kill the titan child but her humanity stopped her. They later become friends and Kyokurou was taught how to read, write and speak their language. They planned to flee the Innocencio household when things started to steer sideways.

Currently watching Steins;Gate. If you watched it, you know what kind of soda it is.

Spoiler Alert! If you are gonna read this post, please read the actual manga first!

Warning! This series contains gore, graphic violence and blood.

Manga in the Mail: 24

Super cheap and in great condition. I found them and I'm surprised no one paid higher than what I was ready to pay. I got this super amazing deal for these volumes:

Blame! Volume 1, Blood: The Last Vampire 2002, Warriors of Tao Volume 1 & 2 and Fullmetal Alchemist Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

I was expecting the manga to be in a "Very Good" condition since most of the manga I buy are like that, except for this one. I was surprised to see them so clean and so taken care of that they are basically like new with only a little shelfwear. They haven't even been yellowed (yeah, manga does yellow over time but that depends on how you take care of them!)

Monthly! Attack on Titan 54

Eren/Historia clone shows up again, this time, in Historia's dream. Rescue mission executed, Levi takes down a taller guy than him. Pervert who touched Armin thinks he's a homosexual after knowing that he was a trap. A deal between the Survey Corps and Reebs company was established. The Central Military police guys are having a S&M party with Hanji and Levi. Erwin and Pixis negotiating about overthrowing the government! That's a ton of information thrown out there!

We actually progress in the story now! I don't know if I'm just dumb or what (probably just dumb) but I didn't see the "coup d'etat" coming. I was looking at a "Mess with the Survey Corp and we'll unleash Titan Eren" plan from Erwin but it they took the hard way and just waged war with the King.

Previously on: Attack on Titan 53: Eren tried to do "Hardening" but failed. Eren had a vision of a lady who looks like a mix of him and Historia, he forgot about it immediately as if it were a memory that does not want to be remembered. Erwin and Nile talk about who the mastermind for the attempted kidnappings for Eren and Historia is/are. Lastly, attempts to capture Eren and Historia have failed due to Survey Corps' tactics and strategies. They used their enemies' attempt to capture both to infiltrate their headquarters. Jean and Armin were disguised as Eren and Historia to be baits for the enemy. We end with the Survey Corps getting ready to rescue Armin and Jean.

Spoiler Alert! If you are gonna read this post, please read the actual manga first!

Monthly! Attack on Titan 53

Eren's titan form is actually controllable, he was a drag queen in the past. Captain Erwin is trying to get information from Nile (who is a Military Guard officer) using rather unorthodox means, fear. The recent recruits of the Survey Corps are targeted by the central military. Lastly, Ar... I mean... Historia and Eren were kidnapped. Let's talk about it!

Previously on: Attack on Titan 52: They plan to plug Wall Maria's hole using Eren's hardening ability (totally innocent sentence, you perv.) Levy's group has just learned about Pastor Nick's passing. He was tortured and forced to speak of what he knows about Eren's whereabouts. The Central Military Police has responded first at the scene but they were suspicious enough that Hanji caught on their crime. Historia then reveals her past and how she got her name Krista Lenz.

Review: Lament of the Lamb Volume 1

A vampire story with a love story at the side. You've got it wrong if you think this is about twilight. If vampires were real, Kei Toume's version would be the ones. Her art and story telling just give me the chills without it being a true horror manga. It's like one of those tragedy stories of the medieval times where suicide and murder are a means to convey extreme feelings. I present you, Lament of the Lamb.

"Mingled among the sheep, there is a wolf. And by his own lonely fangs, he is bent..."

The expressions of the characters on the front cover is what you will have after you read this. The sadness you get from reading something emotional, something dreary. You'll have to read it to understand what I'm talking about.

Review: MPD-Psycho Volume 2

Disappointed. I feel down. I was hyped up and let down.

I was so hyped up because volume 1 just left me wanting for epic gore fest but this one lack that. They got me hooked on this addictive substance and now I'm having withdrawals because this "new version" of this substance was lacking that extra high.

ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Story so far: Yosuke Kobayashi, a detective has developed Dissociative Identity Disorder. He houses different personalities, from a psychopath to a stuttering idiot. He's currently hired by a private investigation firm and is now solving grotesque crimes.

Review: MPD-Psycho Volume 1

Dark Horse writes that this a controversial series and from my opinion, it does live up to it's name. This is so sick and so grotesque, this is beyond horror manga, this is freaking PSYCHO!

Warning! This is volume contains INTENSE GORE, SICK VIOLENCE BRUTAL CRIMES and NUDITY. This is for mature readers, preferably 20 years old and up. Be advised.

Before you click Read more, please know that this is unlike any manga out there. The level of gore this series has brought is far beyond any horror manga or any detective manga I've read. This is your last chance to back out. Please, listen to me and do not read more than this if you don't want to dream of bad dreams.

Manga in the Mail: 18

So I recently bought another gruesome manga and I'm itching to read it. From all the pictures I have of this title (a simple google image search,) I can say that this series is disgusting and I love that kind of stuff. I love horror and more than that, the making of horror. The psychology of it sounds awesome too and that really ties up with this series.

MPD-Psycho Volumes 1, 2, 3 & 4

Warning! This title contains a lot of gore, graphic violence and nudity.

No seriously, it contains full-on hentai nudity. Do not go past this if you don't want to see anymore.

Review: Arisa Volume 2

More shoujo goodness! Yes, the second volume of my first shoujo series this new year! Well, not really the new year but let's just say the winter season. Iko yo!

So, I've finished this volume last year but because of my confusion on my college schedule (I literally thought my classes start the 7th of January so I was freaking out) and laziness that I didn't really bother to review this until now. Forgive me okay?

Gomenasai!

Wishlist: Mahou Shoujo of the End

This is a weird one to ask for since it's not popular and it's not licensed to be published here in the US. It's about magical girls but not exactly what you think. It's not about Sailor Moon or Meruru, it's more like Attack on Titan but without the human eating and more on the killing of humans.

Nope. Not this kind of Mahou Shoujo.

Warning! This title contains graphic violence, gore, a ton of blood and cute but deadly Magical Girls!

Wishlist: Neon Genesis Evangelion

If you are an anime loving person then you should have come across this show. It's a masterpiece, a classic and a mind-trucking journey towards insanity of a show. I wrote about this show on one of my papers and I said:
This anime is a deconstruction of the *mecha subgenre. It focuses on the psychoanalysis of each character in the show and how a character breaks into more pieces as time goes on. On the outside, it looks like a regular super-robot anime but as the show progresses, its true colors show up and kids might be turned off by the unusually long dialogue and flashbacks into a character’s past. Anyone who first watches this will not understand the show in face value and this just shows how great an anime can be.

Manga in the Mail: 9

Battle Royale, a theme that is gory and is down-right awful. When I think about survival, I think about Bear Grylls. *Crickets chirping* Just kidding.

Let's do that again. When I think about survival, I think about the human instinct. The basic command of finding food, water and shelter. If a situation deals you with more people, it becomes a disaster. You can live by yourself and survive by yourself if you are extra careful. Adding people into the survival mix is gonna get you killed sooner or later. Why? Conflicts, self-preservation, lies and other stuff that people can do for their own survival. That's what made me buy this series. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you: Limit.

Review: Alive: The Final Evolution Volume 1

It's another review! Woo!! I don't want to bog you all down with manga haul impressions and what not so I'm reviewing stuff. Please bear with the shallowness of my reviews. Arigato!

Warning! This title contains graphic violence, gore and blood.

My first impression of this title goes like this: "Whoa! Suicide Virus! Lethal Pandemic! This is awesome!" If you've read my past posts, I really like dark themes. I'm not making fun of it, I'm just really interested in the psychological aspect of it all. My psych teacher once told me that people who have killed a person in their life had a change in their brain. That, to me, is interesting so I'm sorry if this is too morbid for you. Anyway, let's move on to the review shall we?

All of these are horror manga. HORROR! I bought these because I'm craving for horror manga. I feel like I really need to read more from the horror genre since I have a ton of stuff about romance, action, fantasy and such.

Now Reading: 4

More now reading posts! This time, it's a horror manga!

Read this at school and I was feeling "I don't have anything to do, so I'm gonna read this even though I can't concentrate" while I was reading this. The perfect atmosphere to be reading this is in a closed room with only a lamp beside you. You need earplugs to silence any noise from the outside world. Then, prepare for a thrill ride!

Scary Book Volume 1: Reflections contains two stories; The Mirror and The Demon of Vengeance.

I have read 3/4 of "The Mirror" so this will be based off of that. The mirror is a story about Emi who is a really beautiful girl who is kind of a narcissist. She loves looking at herself in the mirror. In one stormy night, the mirror cracked and along with it, an evil presence comes to life. Emi is soon haunted by this presence, slowly destroying her life.

Art: The art is outdated but it doesn't lose it's eerie-ness. It looks like the early mangas published and it is. You can see the early Disney influence here.

This is such a good read if I had the right atmosphere at the time I began reading it. It's chilling to know that you might be just a mere reflection of a mirror. Who's the original? Who is the real YOU?!

Hopefully this story ends perfect. I'm expecting some insanity from Emi as she is now...

No. This is not Emi. Or is she?
