Review: Dogs: Bullets & Carnage Volume 2

Just as promised! I've come back with the second volume and it's filled with more action than you can chew!
Also, it's Christmas today so... Merry Christmas! Hope you have an awesome day ahead and like this review, BANZAI!

Naoto + Nill + Nuki + Lokie = Awesome Cover Art

Warning! This volume contains graphic violence, gore, blood and mild nudity.

So you've read Volume 1 and the Prelude. If you have not, you can't catch up to this review. This is mostly about the story. The art is still the same awesome style.

Dogs: Bullets & Carnage Volume 2: (by Shirow Miwa)The story picks up where volume 1 left off and it definitely gets you pumped for more action! This volume focuses more on Naoto Fuyimine and her search for the place "below" the underground. As you know, she wants to exact her revenge on the original "Naoto" who assassinated her parents (See Dogs Prelude/Dogs Volume 0). This story doesn't give anything towards that part but it did have outdo the previous volume in the action.

The introduction of Luki and Noki has passed but their true strengths are illustrated in this volume, as both fight Heine and Naoto. With Luki and Noki defeated, Naoto asks Heine on what they all are, and Heine explains that they are "weapons made to fight" but he never understood the purpose of the creations of weapons. Naoto never really gets to a solid answer but she now has some knowledge about a person who has the same sword as hers, someone named "Fu." The story continues as a mysterious train runs through an abandoned railway system. I wonder what the train is for.... hmmmm.

She's hot and she's deadly.

Art: Phenomenal as always, the art never seems to go down in quality.

Story: The story doesn't progress much as it only dropped a few key lines important to the story's development. It really makes you want more out of the series because it ends in a somewhat satisfying manner. The flashbacks are also evenly placed and do not take as much pages as the next volume which means less character development, more action now. We also get to see who "Granny Liza" is.

Characters: These are big characters, they don't start out as an empty shell, collecting content as time passes on. Now, we have a glimpse of what Naoto has gone through (I'm talking about Heine and Badou who don't know anything about her) and what she's after. She definitely grew a tad bit when she called Fuyumine (the man who raised her to be the dangerous blade maiden we know now), her father (I might be mistaken here but I'm pretty sure it's not her biological parents she's calling out to).

Here's some cuteness to take your boredom off!

We also get to see a glimpse of what scientific experimentation has led to and what was dumped in the underground.

Bottomline: Read it. If you want to see a lot of action with the right amount of dialogue, jump in! Trust me, it gets better and better as we go through the volumes and I'm itching for the 5th one to be on sale somewhere!

Also, you get to see more of Naoto. Just imagine she's the Mikasa of the Dogs universe.
