Review: High School Girls Volume 2

Hello! Welcome back from reading the laugh trip that is High School Girls! Did you read it because of my recommendation? No? Why? I'm sorry I can't do a good job at reviewing!     _| ̄|○

I am currently laughing my butt off from reading all the volumes I have (which is 5 in total) so I don't have a butt right now. _| ̄|○  Oh yeah, after finishing this volume, I can definitely say that this is a shounen manga.

Story so far: We have a group of girls that are starting their high school lives in an All-Girls High School. What they don't know is that girls who attend that high school are different from the "Princess/High Society" girls in their minds. Boyfriend-less girls, lesbians, filthy club rooms, dreadful locker rooms, ill-mannered girls, wild girls and most of all, no holds barred girl stuff (stuff you don't want to know because it's the harsh truth about girls.) And then, at the end of the school festival, one of them got a boyfriend. Well, let's continue the story...

High School Girls Volume 2: (by Towa Oshima) takes us into a high school girl's world again! This time, it's winter which means Valentine's day is around the corner and it also means gaining weight from the holidays. First, they witness Ayano hanging out with her boyfriend during their New Year's Shrine visit. Next they help Ayano make honmei choco (true feeling chocolate) and end up eating the leftovers. The harsh truth comes (guess what happens when you eat a ton of chocolates) and they plan on doing something about it. They found that the most effective plan is sex and you can guess what happens next. Also, their first time participating in a mixer (a group blind date) ends up a failure, well, except for Himeji. Then a new character comes along and blends in the mix. Finally, someone didn't have lunch ready.

No fan service for you!

Story: Well, it certainly went full on MATURE rating on me when they showed Ayano's chest and censored crotch. The suggested age for this manga (as it was published) is 15+ which is fair for the first volume but in this second volume, because of that nipslip and the other fan service panels, it should be 18+ (which it did when it was already on volume 4 and it changed publishers [from ComicsOne to Dr. Master Publishing: both are non-existent anymore, though Dr. Master still has a live website]). Still, it's a comedy so dirty and ecchi jokes are expected. It keeps the general idea of what girls think, albeit, harshly.

Don't let your friends do the words.

Characters: Well, we see them get a lot worse as proper girls. They have become savages who are loose and without restraint (in terms of showing parts of their body or something about sex.) I mean, they talk about sex related topics including their first times. They all are likable characters because of their naivety and innocence.

Bottomline: Read it. If you have some spare time, this would be a great time killer. It'll make you laugh! I read this in a day for 4-5 reading sessions and I'm really engrossed in it because it's funny. I wish I had more of this series.

The mangaka cameo, Stan Lee style!

Addicting Level: 8/10

Well, I'll see you on Sunday (if you're mainly reading my reviews) and expect something extraordinary and serious that you shouldn't read it. Ja ne!
